Launching Our Exclusive Luxury 100% Cashmere Line

Our customers asked, and we listened: we have started launching our exclusive luxury 100% Cashmere DK, 4-ply line. The prices are incredible -- $14.50 per skein -- because we are not using distribution chanels or middle-people. Very soft and easy to work with! Stay tuned as we are working with our dye house to develop new colors to supplement and complement the beautiful JaggerSpun and Jagger Brothers lines.

We are also working on our new 2-ply 100% Cashmere, 2-ply 45%Cashmere/55%Silk, and 4-ply 45%Cashmere/55% Silk lines. Truly soft and luxurious lines -- at very down-to-earth prices.

Yarn dyers: these yarns dye beautifully in the White and Natural White colors, and we will be sure to list them shortly!

Good lord, Sarah! Are you trying to bleed us dry here? (j/k j/k! I love how incredible your prices are and how lovely it is to deal with you!) *hug*

Dear Brittany,

Thank you so much for your kind comments. As a knitter, I know how painful it is to drool over not being able to get beautiful, luxury yarns because of high prices, so this one comes straight from my heart to my fellow knitters.

All the best!

Sarah -

I love when retailers develop their own lines in answer to companies charging astronomical markups. Interesting that Prism's new angora has about 180 for $85, but Fleece Artist just came out with one (more lovely, BTW) with 270 yards for $20. Which one will I buy, hmm? I'll be checking out your new cashmere as well. ;)

I'm just hoping for some swell red so I can please my nephew. He's all of 10. While yarn shopping with him and my sister, he suddenly pipes up, "Mom, what is cash-mere? Can you make me something out of this?" At least the kid has good taste. :-)

Thrilled that there's lots of good news for you, Sarah!

Dear cantwaltz,

Red is one of the colors that we are working on and hope to have it available soon. Your nephew is so cute, and I hope we can help you please him.

Thank you for the good wishes. All the best.

I can't believe you are actually proud of what you are doing here? I think it is terrible.

To our last Anonymous blogger:

And what, specifically, is so terrible about what we are “doing here?”

I have a BS/MS in Chemical Engineering – but I am also an avid knitter. After years of knitting, I cannot tell you how frustrated I was with having to pay astronomical prices for “quality” yarns that I couldn’t help but notice, given my exposure to chemicals and textiles, were really “crappy” after all?

Now what is so bad about having invested my educational background, skills, experience and man-years worth of research and quality assurance testing in order to provide a very high quality luxury Cashmere yarn at affordable prices? Especially since knitting is my personal passion?

You tell me, since you have been so pitifully vague.

Sarah, I wouldn't even waste your time responding to someone who would be so ignorant as to leave a comment as your last anonymous commenter did. Spend your time responding the the commenters who have valid points that you should address, but not to someone who clearly "hates" you for no apparent reason other than the possibility that you may have taken a few of her customers. Spend your energy on developing your yarns, your business, and your "arguement" against the yarn companies who demand keystone pricing. You're going to need all the energy you have to do all of that, and shouldn't even waste your keystrokes responding to the likes of your last anonymous commenter.

To the last Anonymous comment:

Thank you for your sobering comment. In fact, it was so on-point that it has taken days for me to respond to it because I have been very focused following your very wise and most appreciated advice.

We are all human, and when the hate-mail, menacing phone calls and e-mails, and actual threats pour in some of us -- most undoubtedly including me -- lose it at certain points. But I don't believe in cowering to organized crime, nor do I believe in breaking The Law.

The more time I spend in this business the more I become concerned that that there may indeed be an organized group surrounding suppliers and retailers. So-much-so that I wonder when I'm going to get that unexpected visit from a couple of big NY Guys dressed in Dark Suits who will leave me lying in a pool of my own blood, given the threats that I've received. Thank G-d for my vicious Dobermans -- and I'm about to add to my specialized Dog Zoo. And this is all because many retailers want to keep making their 100% to 400% -- closer to 400% -- markups. Even though many of them go in-and-out-of-business anyway, as I have witnessed throughout my long-suffering years in NYC. Just goes to show that giving into price fixing won't cure their ills ...

I stand behind my beliefs. My partner gets scared most of the time, but he's here. My people haven't run off on me because of what I believe in; they keep showing up for work every day, even though I have fully informed them of what is happening.

So thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.

Well, I just recently found you and I'm thrilled with the quality of your yarns and the pricing.

I am a knit designer, and the only way I can produce my designs with quality yarns is to search for people like you. Thank you for sticking to your principles. You and people like you make it possible for small designers like myself to continue to create.
